Weingut Stadt Krems - Grüner Veltliner Kremser Ried Wachtberg 1 ÖTW Kremstal DAC Reserve 2016

Kremstal -
White - Austria

94 Points - Falstaff

Medium yellow-green, silver reflections. Delicately spiced nuances of fresh Golden Delicious apple, delicate to pear, pleasant herbal spiciness. Complex, juicy, fruit-sweet texture, ripe honeydew melon in the finish, fine acidity, already accessible, has development potential.

Pairing: Grüner Veltliner is a perfect match for Austrian cuisine, but also matches delicately with spicy far eastern dishes. Especially, we recommend this wine to starters, fried and Asian dishes. Drink it like a great Burgundy-wine from big glasses. We suggest to offering the wine in a decanter (3-5 hours!)

Alcohol: 13%

Acidity: 6,5 g

Residual sugar: 4,0 g

Origin & Vinification: The mighty terraces of Wachtberg are property of the Weingut Stadt Krems since the 12th century. The terroir is dominated by gneiss covered by loess but also by the pannonic climate. The grape vines in this vineyard are 53 years old, and every year we are able to harvest clusters in good quality.

On the 2nd of November 2016 Grüner Veltliner Wachtberg was harvested by hand. After destemming and gentle pressing, the must was fermented under controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks and wooden barrel (2000 Liter).
